Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after March of 2023.

The win also means he has won 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to create a decider.

He saved four early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
