Automobiles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Police stated they were notified by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then discovered many other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.

An important representative said the attack left him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
